Flushing Out Jamie Lee Curtis

Shortly after 8 AM local time Saturday, scores of residents in Hawaii received an emergency cellphone alert with an alarming message: “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”

The message, reportedly sent by the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency in error, would turn out to be a false alarm, officials said. Nevertheless, it would take 38 minutes for authorities to clear up the mistake with a follow-up alert.

The time in-between sparked a brief panic in a state where fears of an attack by North Korea have heightened in recent months.

Jamie Lee Curtis went off the deep end after the incident played out tweeting this:

Curtis, you’ll remember, was at one time a spokesperson for Activia yogurt.  Activia is a product of The Dannon Company.  Dannon was forced to settle a $21 million class-action lawsuit over false advertising with the Federal Trade Commission.

Dannon is now banned from claiming its products relieve irregularity or helps avoid catching colds or the flu.  It can only advertise those claims if it also mentions consumers must eat three servings each day to obtain these benefits.  That’s 21 servings per week and a heckuva hurdle to clear to get Curtis back on her green sofa to hawk the stuff.
